Agile Desktop Overview

Studio/Runtime version 7.0 and later includes Agile Desktop, a user-friendly, unified presentation component that makes it easy to present solutions to your end users in a customizable, easy-to-use interface. In addition, Studio includes these plug-ins which you can use to create a unified user experience:

Customer 360 View — Presents the most critical client information to the user.
Automated Notes — Agile Desktop automatically creates notes using text templates populated by pre-defined activities. You can easily add comments about an interaction and review the notes you have already entered and generated.
Shortcuts — Lets you define and present frequently used shortcuts to your users. These shortcuts can start an executable or a solution or go to a web address. These shortcuts can start an execution, navigate to a webpage, start an activity, or execute an automation.

Assisted Sign-On — Version 7.1 includes an easy-to-use innovation that works across non-referenced projects as well as solutions and lets you quickly implement Assisted Sign on. This means…
- When they start Runtime/Agile Desktop, users can enter credentials for all Assisted Sign-On applications in the Enter Credentials window.
- Once credentials are entered, when individual applications present their login screen, the user ID and password fields can be automatically filled and the Login button clicked without using an automation.
- To handle situations where users need to modify credentials, you can create an automation that displays the Enter Credentials window and either shows all of the affected applications or displays each application individually.
- You specify whether user credentials are persisted when you configure Runtime or Agile Desktop. Used with the Start My Day innovation, this lets you get your Runtime/Agile Desktop users up and running quickly, efficiently, and securely.

Start My Day — This innovation lets you specify a list of applications in which a Runtime or Agile Desktop user will be presented when he or she first starts Runtime/Agile Desktop. This list can include non-Studio programs and URLs, as well as applications used within Studio adapters. Each Runtime/Agile Desktop user can customize and sort the list of applications to be started by Runtime/Agile Desktop. The items on the list are specific to the user.
Message Manifest — This innovation lets you share message strings across multiple projects. You can also define the characteristics of a message dialog that can be displayed to Runtime/Agile Desktop users. Messages and other detailed information are entered in Studio via an editor.

You configure Agile Desktop using the interaction.xml file. During this configuration, you define the information which will be presented to end users and set options specific to each plug-in. For more information, see Using the Interaction.xml File.

When an end user installs Runtime, the Setup wizard installs both the standard Runtime application and Agile Desktop. The wizard also prompts you to decide whether you will use the standard Runtime application or Agile Desktop. For more information, see the Runtime installation instructions.
